This is the lilac-bush
Full of the cat-bird's warble,
The singer drunken with song
Of his heart's distillation,
Falling from azure tuft,
From violet spray, and jade,
Down throughthe dusk of the bush,
To rest in a grassy shade.

Soon again, the happy sound
Will enchant the purple ground.
